Feinstein Institute Appoints David Dangoor, Scott Rechler as New Board Members

MANHASSET, NY – The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research today announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, David Dangoor and Scott Rechler.

“The addition of David Dangoor and Scott Rechler strengthens our already-impressive and dedicated group of board members,” said Board Chair Barbara Hrbek Zucker. “As a board, we will continue to support an extraordinary team of researchers who advance science and improve medicine.

The Board of Directors supports the Feinstein Institute’s mission to produce knowledge to cure disease. One strategic initiative is a leadership role in the new field of bioelectronic medicine. This field develops technology to treat diseases by stimulating or blocking signals conducted through nerves, between the brain and the organs.

“It is an exciting time at the Feinstein Institute. With the Board of Directors, we are actively expanding our efforts in growing our Center for Bioelectronic Medicine,” said Feinstein Institute President and Chief Executive Officer Kevin J. Tracey, MD. “Investments into this revolutionary approach promise to deliver therapies that can significantly impact the future of medicine.”

Mr. Dangoor is president of Innoventive Partners LLC, a marketing and PR consulting company he founded in 2002, and is founding investor and chairman of the board of BioGaia AB, a Swedish bio-tech company. Before retiring from Philip Morris/Altria Group in 2002, Mr. Dangoor was the executive vice president of Philip Morris International, Inc. Mr. Dangoor is a director on the boards of Lifetime Brands, Inc., New York City Ballet, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, as well as a member of several other international boards. He is also the honorary consul general of Sweden in New York.

Mr. Rechler is CEO and chairman of RXR Realty LLC. Prior to that, he served as CEO and chairman of Reckson Associates Realty and was the architect of the firm’s IPO in 1995 and eventual sale in 2007. In 2011, Mr. Rechler was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo to serve as vice chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He also serves as chairman of the Port Authority’s Capital Planning Committee. In addition to serving on many of the region’s top real estate boards, Mr. Rechler is also a member of the 9/11 Memorial Foundation, the Long Island Children’s Museum and the Tribeca Film Institute where he serves as the Board’s co-chairman.
