Protocol Description

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the study drug, rituximab, in people diagnosed with dermatomyositis or polymyositis. Dermatomyositis (DM) is a disease that causes muscle weakness and is associated with a rash. Polymyositis (PM) is a disease that causes muscle weakness without a rash. The study doctors want to evaluate whether rituximab will improve the symptoms of these diseases. This research is part of a larger, multi-center clinical trial which includes persons diagnosed with adult dermatomyositis, juvenile dermatomyositis and adult polymyositis.

Eligibility Criteria

Patients diagnosed with dermatomyositis or polymyositis
