Osteosarcoma Study

COG #AOST0331: EURAMOS 1. A Randomized trial of the European and American Osteosarcoma Study Group to Optimize treatment strategies for Resectable Osteosarcoma based on histological to Pre-Operative Chemotherapy. A Phase III Intergroup Study

Protocol ID

06.10.017T

Protocol Description

This study is being done to try to find out the best way to treat osteosarcoma subjects who have tumors that can be removed by surgery.  The standard anti-cancer drugs used to treat subjects with osteosarcoma are doxorubicin, cisplatin, and methotrexate (together called MAP). The aims of this study are:
• To see if the addition of ifosfamide and etoposide to MAP chemotherapy will help get rid of the disease in subjects who have a poor tumor response to MAP alone.
• To see if the addition of interferon after MAP chemotherapy can help get rid of the disease in subjects who have a good tumor response to standard chemotherapy.

Study doctors would also like to look at the tumor tissue to see if there are things about the genetic make-up of these tumors that can be used to predict how subjects will respond to therapy. In addition, they would like to know how the disease and the therapy affect the lives of subjects and their families.
