Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects, good and/or bad, of a standard chemotherapy regimen for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) that includes the drugs daunorubicin and cytarabine combined with or without midostaurin (also known as PKC412), to find out which is better.

Eligibility Criteria

Patients who have acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that may possess an abnormal molecular feature (that is, a mutation in a gene called FLT3) that previous research has shown may result in worse treatment outcomes than patients without the abnormal molecular
