The American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (ATHN)
Protocol ID
Protocol Description
The American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (ATHN) is a privately funded non-profit corporation founded in July 2006 with a vision to advance and improve the care of individuals affected by bleeding and thrombotic disorders. It is part of a special group of hemophilia treatment centers (HTCs) across the country called ATHN Affiliates. HTCs and ATHN want to improve the care of people with bleeding and clotting disorders. ATHN is helping HTCs to create a safe and secure national database of patient health information.
Doctors, scientists, policy makers, and other health care providers need a large pool of patient information from a lot of patients to answer scientific, public health, and policy questions about the best way to treat bleeding and clotting disorders. They will use the information from the ATHN dataset to answer these questions.
