The Feinstein Institute’s biomedical informatics group was established in 1999 with the start of the Biorepository program. It was developed to automate the standard laboratory processes of data collection as well as the command and control of robotic systems. Since these beginnings this group has expanded to support clinical and medical informatics, clinical annotation of Biorepository human specimens and tissues collections, large-scale data management and web based software development for data capture and management. The group is currently engaged in developing innovative software to collect information from other health system repositories and data management applications to consolidate data thereby facilitating data sharing between research investigators, clinicians, and other data systems. Our goal is to create integrated data management systems that enable collaboration, data mining and expansion knowledge to improve research and healthcare.
The team comprises computer technicians, biologists and computer scientists with a deep understanding of basic scientific design. In addition to the LIMS service, they also provide consultation to other companies and research institutes interested in Laboratory Biomedical Informatics.
