There are numerous ways in which you, as an investigator, can benefit from utilizing the GCRC for your studies.

Imagine...

Dedicated space for clinical research:

  • Out-patient unit with 2 exam rooms and 1 treatment room with 2 recliner chairs available.
  • In-patient beds on 4 Cohen of NSUH.

Patient care available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays upon request

Research nurses to perform complex research interventions such as:

  • Specimen collection.
  • Specimen processing.
  • IV therapy.
  • Serial blood sampling.
  • Biofeedback.
  • EKG.

Payment for laboratory tests and other ancillaries.

Biostatistics support for statistical and data management support for all facets of research.


GCRC Core Laboratory support:

  • Can collect, process, store and distribute samples through its Biorepository.
  • Can provide a facility for functional brain imaging using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) in our Brain Imaging Facility.
  • Can apply the techniques of molecular biology and biochemistry to research problems with clinical implications through our Molecular Biology core.

A Research Advocate is available to ensure that research subjects understand the informed consent process.

A Research Assistant to handle:

  • Patient scheduling.
  • Telephone questionnaires.
