One of the major focuses of the Feinstein is its commitment to patients and bringing the findings from the laboratory quickly to the bedside. And it is precisely the goal of the Herman Merinoff Center for Patient-Oriented Research. Doctors and scientists from across the North Shore-LIJ Health System are studying a vast number of conditions as they continue in their commitments to the care and treatment of their patients and they turn to the strength of the Feinstein Institute’s core programs to help collect, test and analyze the samples and information gathered.
The Feinstein's Core facilities serve scientists throughout the North Shore-LIJ Health System as well as investigators from throughout the world. The Feinstein Institute has a renowned biostatistics branch to help scientists with many questions related to the design and implementation of a study and its data collection and analysis. The Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry is bustling with discoveries of new molecules for a wide range of diseases. Tens of thousands of genetic samples in our Biorepository are used to identify risk genes and point the way to new therapies.
