IRB Metrics
In the spirit of the Health System's public reporting of quality measures, the Office of the IRB began in June 2008 to publish the following metrics:
- Defined goals for IRB response time.
- Average time interval of IRB response to submission.
- Average time interval of investigator response to the IRB.
- Average time interval from submission to IRB approval.

Please note: Responses to contingent approvals follow the turn around time goals of expedited reviews - 10 business days.
There are currently no established goals for total approval time. However, by tracking average approval intervals, we hope to develop standards for future analysis.

**The clock for Exempt and Expedited review items begins the date that items are received at the IRB office. The clock for Full Board items (those which require review at a convened meetings) begins with the date of the meeting.
