PREP Keynote Event (click to download flyer)
Everyone from the community, the public, patients, and employees are invited to join us on Monday, 5/21/12, 5:00-7:00 PM for our 1st annual PREP Keynote event. Our 1st event will be “Integrative Medicine Research: What It Means To You”. In this event, Gary Deng, MD, PhD from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center will show why medical research is important and discuss how research can help patients improve their health and their life. Dr. Deng conducts clinical research on the use of herbal supplements, acupuncture, and other integrative medicine therapies. These therapies are used by many patients and the public, but do they work, and if they do, how? Come and learn more! Refreshments will be served during the reception and valet parking will be available. The event is free. To register, please contact Tina Chuck at tchuck@nshs.edu or 516-562-0433.
Alliance Coordinator Award
Participants in the series will be eligible to receive CME credits. In addition, research investigators, students, coordinators and community partners who are eligible to sit for a research professional certification exam (e.g. ACRP, SOCRA, etc.) and who attend PREP courses will be able to apply through Research Compliance for an Alliance Coordinator Award.
Each Alliance Coordinator Award ($1,500) will be based on an application and award process for up to 20 individuals a year and will provide the necessary funds to pay for ACRP or similar membership, Registration for the Certification Exam, the Certification Review Course and Practice Tests. This will strengthen a coordinator core of clinical research, reinforce development efforts that will provide a career path for researchers and coordinators, and maintain staff that is well trained in regulatory affairs.
