The Campus

The Feinstein Institute is fully integrated with the North Shore-LIJ Health System, and shares much of its space with clinical programs.  Primary focal points of research activities are on the campuses of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY; the Zucker Hillside Hospital in Glen Oaks, NY; and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY.

The Feinstein Institute has its headquarters in the Boas Marks Pavilion on the Manhasset campus. Boas Marks houses the Feinstein’s federally funded General Clinical Research Center, an 8-bed outpatient facility where patients with diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, leukemia and other diseases donate their time, their blood, and information about their illness so Feinstein scientists can develop new treatments and diagnostics.  The Boas Marks Pavilion also is home to many advanced technology platforms that enhance research activities, including a robotic biorepository, a positron emission tomography (PET) brain imaging center, a high-throughput DNA sequencing facility, and the North Shore Informatics Group.  The Goldman International Conference Center supports the academic programs of the Feinstein and many departments across the Health System.

The Leon Lowenstein Research Building at the Zucker Hillside Hospital is home to the Center for Translational Psychiatry, where nearly 100 researchers are exploring many psychiatric illnesses, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.

Research programs within the Long Island Jewish Medical Center are focused on cardiopulmonary disease, breast cancer, diabetes and kidney disease.

The Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine trains future generations of physician/scientists and the Feinstein will also be a place where medical students will come to learn about research through a collaborative partnership between North Shore-LIJ Health System and Hofstra University. The new medical school will open its doors to the first class in 2011. Learn more about the medical school
