The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, previously named the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine was established in 2008 and is a unique partnership between Northwell Health and Hofstra University. It is the first new medical school in the New York metropolitan area in more than 40 years.
The Zucker School of Medicine is built upon the strong clinical and graduate medical education programs of Northwell Health and the robust research conducted at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. this dynamic collaboration has transformed medical education through the creation of an innovative curriculum that integrates academic course content with hands-on clinical experiences throughout the four-year program. It is a new approach to learning that combines the biomedical, biopsychosocial and clinical medicine needed to prepare tomorrow’s health care professionals — starting on the first day of medical training.
The medical students also have access to the health organization’s Center for Learning and Innovation, the Patient Safety Institute and the Bioskills Education Center. These three state-of-the-art training facilities include the latest operative technologies, human simulation/robotic laboratories and high-tech research spaces.
