Our lab studies the human brain using the electrocorticogram: electrical activity recorded directly from the brain itself. We use recordings from electrodes placed in patients undergoing evaluation for epilepsy surgery to examine:
- human brain networks
- neural mechanisms of cognitive abilities such as attention, visual processing, and language
- correspondence of electrocorticography with non-invasive measures of brain activity, like fMRI
- how to identify the brain areas involved in generating seizures
