Laboratory for Human Brain Mapping

Our lab studies the human brain using the electrocorticogram: electrical activity recorded directly from the brain itself. We use recordings from electrodes placed in patients undergoing evaluation for epilepsy surgery to examine:

  • human brain networks
  • neural mechanisms of cognitive abilities such as attention, visual processing, and language
  • correspondence of electrocorticography with non-invasive measures of brain activity, like fMRI
  • how to identify the brain areas involved in generating seizures

The Mehta Lab is part of the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the Comprehensive Epilepsy Care Center at North Shore University Hospital.

To contact the Laboratory for Multimodal Human Brain Mapping, email We are located on the 9th floor of the Tower building at North Shore University Hospital, in Manhasset, NY.
