About the Investigator

Laura received her BS in Pharmacology from Stony Brook University with cum laude honors, where she studied the structure of an ubiquitous proto-oncogene and its effect when bound to various inhibitors. Her clinical research was conducted in the Maternal Fetal Medicine department at Stony Brook Medicine. She studied chorioamnionitis, a bacterial infection in the fetal membranes in pregnant women, to analyze parameters that can potentially improve care. Upon receiving her MS at Stony Brook, her thesis involved understanding the baroreflex pre- and post-vagotomy via administration of pharmacological agents that target blood pressure.

Research Focus

Acute/chronic recording and stimulation with novel electrodes to better understand the central and peripheral nervous system in pre-clinical animal models.
