Research Policy and Training

The mission of the Office of Research Policy and Training (RPT) is to evaluate and manage the development, maintenance and delivery of policies and associated training related to research to meet regulatory, industry, and institutional standards and requirements.

Research Policy

RPT works with content experts and stakeholders to develop and maintain policies and procedures to meet regulatory, industry, and institutional standards that govern the safe, responsible, and ethical conduct of research, including lab research, animal research, and human subjects research.  This office serves as the representative for the research community on various corporate committees, work groups, and task forces that are involved in the development and implementation of health system policy. Click here to learn more about research policies and procedures.

Research Training and Professional Development

  • Training Resources for Professional Development

RPT collaborates with content experts of research support offices, sponsors, and research sites to provide the research communities we support with high quality, continuous education and training for professional development in order to meet regulatory, industry, and institutional policies and standards. Many of our research training programs offer continuing medical education (CME) and continuing education unit (CEU) credits and are offered as in-person and online classes. • Required Training

Our services include support for mandatory training programs to meet institutional, regulatory, and sponsor requirements for research. There are different training requirements depending on the type of research you work on – human subjects research, animal research, and laboratory research. Required training can be in the form of online and in-person classes. The CITI Program and iLearn are used to fulfill many of the training requirements.

Each research program has different training requirements which are outlined in the program’s policies and procedures.  Contact the research program’s office if you have any questions about training requirements:
