Jon Newlin is a Certified IRB Professional, and is the Assistant Director of the Human Research Protection Program at Northwell Health. He is responsible for supporting the operations of the health system’s flex IRB system, and providing regulatory guidance to the research community. He began his career as a recruiter and regulatory coordinator in oncology research at Hartford Hospital, and then moved into IRB management within the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. Jon’s efforts have been directed towards consolidating smaller hospital IRBs into a broader flex model that serves the needs of an expanding health system. His research interests are IRB operational quality improvement, measuring turnaround times, and finding flexibility within current regulations to maximize productivity without diminishing participant protections. Jon has a degree in cultural anthropology and philosophy from Connecticut College.
