The exchange of research materials is an essential part of scientific research. It promotes effective collaboration between Feinstein Institute scientists and those from outside the Health System, whether in academia, the government or industry.
Materials Transfer Agreements (MTAs) are legal contracts used to define the terms and conditions for the exchange of materials. An MTA typically sets forth rights to use the materials and may allocate rights to the results of their use. Often MTAs address such issues as publication, limitations on the use of the materials, further distribution of the materials, and the intellectual property rights of the provider and the recipient in inventions which may arise from the use of the material.
MTAs are processed through the Office of Intellectual Assets. Please contact our office as soon as possible as some MTAs require time to negotiate.
